Heritales promotes @ University of Évora – Portugal (13th-15th of May 2026)

Heritales at the University of Évora promotes The 3rd International Seminar of the BRIDGES Project, entitled ‘Invisible limitations? The inclusion of difference.

From May 13 to 15, the III international seminar organized by the BRIDGES project — «Cultural Bridge». Promoting cultural inclusion to achieve a more democratic society (PLANAPP-FCT, S4P25), based at CIDEHUS of the University of Évora, will take place in online and in-person formats.

This third BRIDGES seminar aims to study inclusion and ways to give visibility to possible avenues for promoting it through culture and the arts. Under the general title of “Invisible Limitations? Inclusion of Difference through Art, Culture and the Digital World,” special attention will be paid to forms of inclusion for intergenerational groups, the elderly, disadvantaged people, people with disabilities, and those with neurodivergences (ADHD, ASD). In line with the project’s interests, cross-cutting themes will again be addressed, primarily encompassing public cultural policies; initiatives to promote cultural and racial diversity; and intersectionality in gender equality, presenting these issues through the lens of the arts.

As in previous meetings, the BRIDGES project invites a wide range of experts from various fields, including research, psychology, medicine, cultural prescription, culture, and the arts, such as theatre and film. In this way, the aim is to address this multifaceted reality from a comprehensive international perspective, through diverse disciplinary representations. This project will address professional trajectories and their association with personal experiences, as well as institutional frameworks structured within organizations, and the various public and artistic expressions that aim to promote positive changes in these social fields. In this sense, and as an essential part of the BRIDGES project’s interests, artistic expressions will be explored as a way to give visibility to these issues and to seek more solutions to achieve true equality through the transformative power of culture.

Heritales promotes @ Casa Do Burgos Evora – Portugal (15th-18th of April 2026)

Heritales at the University of Évora promotes The 2nd International Seminar of the BRIDGES Project, entitled ‘I Have A Dream.

In the light of diversity: art, culture, public policy and the digital world’, will focus particularly on culture and diversity, as well as the ways in which the principles of equality are being undermined. The title refers directly to Martin Luther King’s vision of true equality, as expressed in his famous 1963 speech, ‘I Have a Dream’, which called for an end to racial discrimination, by choosing the words and wishes of union.

During the three-day event, international lecturers, researchers and artists will present their studies and results, demonstrating the importance of public policies in culture and the role of education and the arts in promoting diversity and fostering integration within communities. The research highlights the importance of combatting xenophobia and hate speech directed at migrants, refugees, the Romani-Gypsy community, and cultural minorities.

This second international seminar of the BRIDGES project aims to explore inclusion and highlight possible ways of promoting it through culture. The event will address the following themes: public cultural policies; educational initiatives to promote racial and cultural diversity; perspectives on racism and xenophobia; integration policies for refugees, immigrants, and the Roma community; combatting racism and hate speech; and artistic expressions as a means of raising awareness of these issues and achieving equality through the transformative power of culture.
