Today, it’s on the brink of extinction.But 90-year-old Katrina Esau is fighting to keep it alive. From her home in the Northern Cape, she teaches local children and even published the first N|uu children’s book, !Qhoi n|a Tjhoi.
Through her passion and dedication, Katrina is passing on a cultural treasure and making sure this ancient language isn’t forgotten.

Great animation session yesterday at the Recreios Desportivos da Trafaria. We were delighted from the presence of director Katalin Eagely who has several works partecipating at the 2024 competition. Thanks to all the partecipants and see you tomorrow with another great appointment of amazing animations shorts.An amazing day on tuesday first with the screening of Multan from director Zahid Balock, a great collage from all type of Multan heritage one of the oldest city in Asia and Paper White Noise from director Hamidreza Sichani a great example of inclusive heritage. Next was the finishing of the Heritales' trophies exhibition at Imargem Associação in Almada Portugal. We cannot thanks enough all the students that have produced the trophies and all the entities that supported us and continue tu suppprt us in this great journey: AlmadaMundo - Associação Internacional , Vicarte, Belas-Artes ULisboa, NOVA FCT .We are now in the process of finding a new space until the final award ceremony.Great evenong on Saturday with the Animation shorts 2024 selection at the Cultural Centre Fernão Mendes Pinto in AlmadaMundo - Associação Internacional Portugal. Venerdì con il film Nessun Posto al mondo di Vanina Lappa, vincitrice del premio del pubblico al Festival dei Popoli 2023, ci inoltreremo nel mondo della transumanza, patrimonio universale dell’Unesco e sabato con un carrellata di corti, in collaborazione L’INTERNATIONAL HERITAGE FILM FESTIVAL, faremo in modo che il cinema diventi collante tra le diverse forme di linguaggio, culture, modi di fare comunità e aggregazione.

Plunge into AV experiences, animated shorts, and live performances under the Acacia tree by the lake.Great news: Another reservation created for uncontacted peoples in Peru! 🏹After almost 20 years of struggle by Indigenous organizations such as @orpioaidesep and @aidesepperu, and with the support of allies such as Survival, a new Indigenous Reserve has been created in Peru. This is an essential step for the survival of the uncontacted peoples living in that territory - the Remo/Isconahua, Mayoruna (Matses and Matis) and Kapanawa peoples.
The authorities now have 60 days to present their protection plan for the new reserve to guarantee the rights of #UncontactedTribes.
We’ll be watching closely to make sure this reserve will be protected properly.
And we’ll keep putting pressure on the authorities to properly protect other uncontacted tribes’ territories that have been awaiting legal protection for years.
