Synopsis: Our memories play an important role in the construction of identity and self-awareness. My childhood memories have acquired a special value for me since the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, my home country. For many children, this time will become a formative memory. My childhood in Ukraine was different and I want to share it with the audience in the form of an animated short. In the film I tell a personal story about my childhood memories and explore how memories are preserved and why they have a special meaning for people.

Submitter Statement:  I graduated in Animation in 2013 from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, Hungary.
Besides short films and animated scenes for movies, my focus is primarily on making music videos.
Music videos are especially inspiring for me because instead of narrative story-telling I can create visual poetry based on associative images.
I also like to work on animated documentary films because with animation it’s possible to express the more subjective parts of a narrative.

Synopsis: Icarus adjusts to his life as his new medication splits him in two.

Submitter Statement:  Icarus is a surrealist experimental film speaking on mental health and the effects of medication intended to help. The internal struggles of Icarus are given to the audience through all aspects of the film. The music was inspired by Burmese orchestral music played for a Burmese deity called Ko Gyi Kyaw, who is labeled as a spirit representing euphoria from addiction and greed. The animation portrays contrasting feelings of euphoria and discomfort with inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, the African Thinker, and the story of Icarus himself.
