The Calador and the Rope | O Calador e a Corda

Xávega Art has been practiced for hundreds of years in Costa da Caparica, in the community of Fonte da Telha, located a few kilometers from Lisbon. The “arts”, as it is called by artisanal fishermen, is listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Portugal, crossing time, from generation to generation, bequeathing a present to the future.
This film invites the viewer to understand the narrative of the Other. Man in sync with the present time, adapting to new technologies. A dialogue between the soundscapes, marine nature, the character’s hidden voice, and the director/researcher’s point of view.
